i spend a lot
of time
looking up
during this time of year.

fall
is demanding.
it wants us to look at it in
all its
regal splendor.

but the real beauty,
the quiet beauty
whispers beneath our feet.

You are so right about both the looking up and the need for looking down. The gold that flies across the blue, blue sky to nestle in safe corners, the last green grass, final flowers. Thanks for the reminder.

Also, the trout in our park pond never get much size, but there are wonderful streams nearby full of big fish. My DH fishes the lakes and brings home luscious lunkers.

I agree - sometimes we get so wrapped up in it all - we forget the beauty right here.
